I’m currently working on a series of mom and baby animals. I’ve been exploring the connection between mothers and children, and figuring out how to draw love, care, and protection through facial and body expressions.
My goal is to create a series of animals. After starting with sea otters and hedgehogs (because they are so cute!) I’ve moved onto animals that live mostly in the Northeast United States (where I do!).
The drawings are in colored pencil which has been a challenge, mostly because the medium is unforgiving and slow. Furthermore, I’ve found digitizing my colored pencil drawings to be more difficult than I predicted. Scanners often create grainer images than I would like, leading to epic photoshop editing sessions. The collection is growing – slowly!
